Spondylolisthesis SymptomsMany patients with spondylolisthesis experience no symptoms at all. In fact, they only find out they have the condition when they're x-rayed for some other problem. Unfortunately, that's not the case for other people with spondylolisthesis. The symptoms can vary in degrees of severity, and they can reach a point of becoming debilitating. Many symptoms of spondylolisthesis are similar to other disease processes. It's important for a qualified back specialist to do a complete evaluation and medical history to determine if the symptoms are those of spondylolisthesis. Lower back pain, particularly after exercising, is one of the common symptoms of spondylolisthesis. This may include pain and/or weakness in the lower extremities. Lordosis (or swayback) may be present and increase as the disease progresses. Exercise or walking may become difficult due to musculature tightness in the hamstring. Intervention for Spondylolisthesis Symptoms If conservative treatment has failed to improve the spondylolisthesis symptoms, surgery may be recommended to reduce the pressure on spinal nerve roots. At The Bonati Institute, advanced spine surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, and the recovery time is rapid. With the use of endoscopic and arthroscopic laser instrumentation, the incision is tiny, leaving very little muscle tissue to heal. Read more at The Bonati Institute. |
