Sciatic Nerve CompressionSciatica (nerve pain) is the result of compression of one or more of the nerve roots known as the sciatic nerve. There are five sets of paired nerve roots that create the sciatic nerve. This complex nerve runs from the back, through the buttock, and down each leg to the feet. Sciatic nerve compression can cause pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness at any location down the path of the nerve. The most common causes of sciatic nerve compression include a herniated disc, trauma, spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, spondylolisthesis, and tumors on the spine. A herniated disc is defined as the nucleus of the disc breaking through the outer wall and pressing on the adjacent nerve tissue. Possible traumas include falling, automobile accidents, sports injuries, or any impact that compresses the nerve roots. Sciatic Nerve Compression Release At The Bonati Institute, thousands of procedures to relieve sciatic nerve compression have been successfully performed, with a documented success rate of more than 90 percent. In many patients, improvement is noted immediately. This outpatient surgery center uses the latest endoscopic and arthroscopic laser technology to clean and expand the openings for the sciatic nerve roots. |
