Cervical Radiculopathy Symptoms

Cervical radiculopathy is a painful condition caused by abnormal pressure on the nerves that originate in the upper part of the spinal column and radiate to the body's upper extremities. Often, radiculopathy can indicate the presence of a herniated disc or foraminal narrowing due to bone spurs (osteophytes) growing from the spine.

Symptoms for cervical radiculopathy differ according to which part of the spine is affected. However, pain tends to be very sharp and arises when the body assumes a particular position or engages in a certain activity. In addition to pain, symptoms of numbness, tingling and muscle weakness are also commonly associated with the condition.
